TRANSFORMING REACTION TIME FOR GDOT
Recently Georgia’s Department of Transportation ran a pilot test of TrafficVision along the I-475 corridor. Cameras were set up to cover 100% of the test route and then run through TrafficVision TMC in one of the longest contiguous deployments in the country. After a rigorous 8 month test the results found that TrafficVision was able to detect incidents 6 to 8 minutes before those same incidents were reported by a credible source. TrafficVision was able to give GDOT faster alerts and shorter response times. To find out more about how easy it is to set up a test for your area please contract us or come see us at one of the conventions below.
HOW IOT CAN HELP SMART CITIES SOLVE MAJOR TRAFFIC PROBLEMS
Kansas City has over 300 CCTV traffic cameras deployed along its highways, and the video streams are monitored by only three operators — an unmanageable task. To increase effectiveness, the city deployed an image-processing solution from TrafficVision to more effectively collect data and detect traffic incidents in real time. The solution presents traffic information in a web interface and then the information is captured for database storage, analysis, and reporting. The software identifies relevant incidences including wrong-way drivers, current accidents, and debris on the road, and sends the video clips to the cloud.

CDOT'S VISIONARY INVESTMENT
Managing traffic throughout the state of Colorado falls to the statewide traffic management center (TMC) in Golden, just west of Denver. Here, operators and dispatchers respond to calls and incidents to keep traffic moving freely and to minimize the effects of an incident on roadway safety and travel times. The hope in investing in a video analytics system was that it would proactively alert these operators to incidents in real time allowing them to dispatch the necessary response immediately.
